This week was this Shining-Bronze Cuckoo. This juvenile bird came into care as a little bald hatchling, seemingly only hours old.

The tree his nest was in was chopped down (because for some reason, everybody wants to chop their trees down in Spring-when birds are nesting!) Unfortunately, his parents didn’t return…

So he came and joined our nest!

Very small, young hatchlings have very fast metabolisms and can require feeding every 45 minutes or so, for most hours of the day! So Spring is a very busy time of the year for the adult birds and for us!!

All the long hours awake are worth it when we get to wave goodbye to a stunning resident like this one!

Wishing you a long, safe life little one xx
